Luis OlivosDecember 18, 1938 ~ February 11, 2017 (age 78)
Cambridge-Luis Olivos Ortiz, 78, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation at Hoosick Falls. During his last few weeks he was able to say goodbye to his closest family. Luis was born in Chile to Jose Luis Olivos and Ardamira Ortiz.
Luis is survived by his son, Louie Olivos (Kerry), Valeria Maritza (Victor), Ivonne McManus (Roger); grandchildren, Kira, James, Kobe, Lacey, Peter, and Joey; sister Aly, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Veronica; his sister, Vicky, and his parents.
During his life, Luis lived many adventures. He had fond memories of his youth travelling in a training ship in the Chilean Navy. Luis was an electrician most of his life but could fix almost anything. He was an avid soccer fan, liked to play lottery games, and also wrote many poems that he was proud to show. His greatest joy, however, was being with family and watching his kids and grandkids grow.
A special thanks to the nurses and aides at the nursing home where he was taken care of, and to those in the Cambridge community who looked after him during his many trips to Stewart’s.
A funeral mass for Luis will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday, February 18, 2017 at St Patrick’s Church, 17 South Park St., Cambridge with The Very Rev. Thomas Zelker officiating.
